CIRCA 1970s JUDITH LEIBER LUCITE BOX PURSE

DESCRIPTION: This is an extremely rare and stunning dark amber lucite vintage Leiber bag with a gold tone frame, clasp, and shoulder-length chain with attached engraved name tag. The chain has gold tone toggles on each end that slip through rings and make it removable. A gold tone hinge and small chain holds the purse together. The body of the heart-shaped purse is "puffed" out and thus will allow for your basic evening necessities.

PROVENANCE NOTE: This purse was originally owned by Audrey Meadows, the star of many television shows and movies. But, of course, she was best known for her role as Alice Kramden, opposite Jackie Gleason on "The Honeymooners". A letter of provenance written by the current owner of the purse will be provided in which she explains how she came to own the bag.

DESCRIPTION: This gorgeous hand stitched micro petit point scenic purse
is a collector's dream. The stitches are so tiny and fine that you need a magnifying glass to view them! The figural scene is surrounded by a floral border and the same scene is repeated on the opposite side. The bag has a gold tone frame embellished with an etched silver overlay on the front, a charming silver tone clasp, and a brass chain handle. The interior is lined with beige moire satin, and there are three open pockets ~ one of which is for a mirror and the other a lipstick. Although the bag is unmarked, I believe it to be of French or Austrian origin.
